The Vaugondy, Father and son, were the official mapmakers Louis XV, called “the Beloved”.
Their sofisticated globes decorated the libraries and salons of Versailles and The Louvre in Paris.

Wrought iron The superior know-how of the blacksmiths of the Baroque epoch (16th-18th centuries) is famous;
numerous churchs, stair railings and impressive iron gates (Gates of Place Stanislas in Nancy) attest it.

The base of this globe is made of loops and curves wrapped around a central swirl.
It contrasts with the simple, even severe, sphere support.
Attention to detail, historical interest, “authentic” materials characterize this very fine globe made by AM, world-renowned for its “museum quality” reproductions.
